The Professorship of Computational Mechanics of Building Materials at ETH Zurich is seeking a motivated and skilled Academic Editor / Science Communication Specialist to strengthen its research communication. We investigate the fundamental mechanisms that govern failure in materials and structures through a combination of theoretical modeling, advanced simulations, and tailored experiments. Our research spans soft material fracture, granular mechanics, additive manufacturing, and architected materials, and is highly interdisciplinary, integrating materials science, mechanics, and applied physics. To enhance the clarity, visibility, and impact of our work, we are looking for a dedicated professional to develop, support, and manage our communication activities.
As Academic Editor / Science Communication Specialist, you will support the professorship in developing, supporting, and managing its external communication activities. In close collaboration with the professor and researchers, you will support and advise on the preparation of scientific manuscripts, grant proposals, and presentations, with a focus on clarity, structure, and accessibility. In addition, you will develop communication resources such as templates, writing guidelines, and visuals, and coordinate with the communications office of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (D-BAUG) and ETH Corporate Communications to ensure alignment with institutional standards. The working language is English.
This is a part-time position (40–60%) and is initially limited to one year, with the possibility of extension. The starting date is as soon as possible, but we are flexible.
