PT is involved in producing every Roche medicine - from the development process through clinical trials - and continuing to product maturity. Our organization coordinates all aspects of production of Roche medicines in all disease areas and dosage forms.Pharma Technical Development (PTD) is integral to Roche-s mission to develop innovative and transformative meaningful medicines for patients by applying leading technical expertise to design, develop, supply, and register clinical stage products globally.The Pharmaceutical Development organization develops innovative and patient-centered parenteral drug products as well as drug product processes that fulfill commercial needs. As Section Leader Pharmaceutical Development (80-100%) you will be responsible for providing strategic direction, technical oversight, efficient execution and people management for a team of approximately 10 employees developing parenteral drug products and executing drug product development studies in support of clinical development, commercial product launch and line extensions.  The incumbent will be a member of the Drug Product Development EU leadership team and will collaborate with other Section Leads to ensure project resourcing and harmonization of work product within drug product technical development and in accord with the needs of the PT Drug Product network.The Opportunity:You will lead a team responsible for developing and delivering parenteral drug products as well as executing drug product development studies. The product portfolio in scope consists primarily of protein-based biologics and will include synthetic molecules parenterals as well as gene therapies.You will foster a growth-oriented, high-performing team environment, enabling staff to develop their skills and contribute their best work, as business needs, portfolio and technologies evolve. Proven leadership, planning and interpersonal skills will be key.You will ensure the group embraces lean practices and principles of Lean Production System (LPS), focusing on continuous improvement.You will provide leadership and technical oversight to ensure continued success, technical rigor and optimization of the execution of drug product development studies in alignment with automation and digital efforts. This includes development of staff with a focus on coaching, continuous improvement, performance management and career development as well as maintaining and optimizing the equipment infrastructure for efficient and innovative delivery, while ensuring data quality and adhering to SHE (Safety Health and Environment) requirements.You will provide technical skills and advice on how to expand technical capabilities and development of non-technical skills (e.g. prioritization, communication, conflict resolution, networking etc.)You will be accountable for parenteral formulation development for all phases of product development, from preclinical to market, providing technical oversight and strategic guidance.You will provide leadership and contribute to the strategic vision of Drug Product Development units in both the EU and US, ensuring global PharmDev needs are met. You will collaborate with other leaders within the Pharmaceutical Development organization to ensure project resourcing and harmonization of work product within drug product technical developmentYou will represent the function during interactions with various interfaces and in stakeholder meetings, emphasizing global harmonization through collaboration, agility, and an innovation mindset.You will contribute to the development of business strategy, departmental culture and capability, take personal accountability to sponsor department initiatives and projects, as neededWho You Are:You hold a Ph.D. in relevant scientific or engineering disciplines (preferred) or have commensurate experience.You have extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and proven ability to shape and lead teams.You possess proven technical expertise in parenteral formulation development and overall pharmaceutical development.
